Care City - Tending the soil for what comes next
CareCity has always been driven by something deeper than service delivery. As a third sector organisation working alongside adult social care, its people show up every day in the service of some of the most vulnerable members of their community. The values are real. The commitment is genuine. But like many organisations navigating a complex and demanding sector, they arrived at a moment of honest reckoning — a sense that before moving forward, they needed to look clearly at where they actually were and wanted to try something new.
That was the beginning of their regenerative journey.
Rather than reaching for a new strategy or restructure, CareCity chose to pause and inquire. Working together in a regenerative leadership workshop, the team turned their attention to the living system of their organisation — its health, its relationships, its patterns, and its potential.
The conversation was structured around questions that living systems ask naturally. What is genuinely working well and deserves to grow? Where are the relationships that nourish — and which connections have become draining or stuck? What needs to be composted — the habits, assumptions, and ways of working that once served the organisation but no longer do? And what does the organisation need to let go of entirely, so that something new has room to emerge?
What surfaced was honest, grounded, and at times courageous. The team found clarity not just about their challenges but about the conditions — the organisational soil — that would need to be tended before any new strategy could truly take root.
CareCity is now in the process of re-strategising — not from a blank page, but from a much clearer understanding of their foundation. They are asking what the next stage of integration looks like: how regenerative values can move from aspiration into the lived culture of the organisation, shaping how decisions are made, how people are supported, and how the organisation relates to the wider community it serves.
This is what regenerative leadership looks like in practice. Not a transformation imposed from the outside, but one that grows from within — tended carefully, season by season.
Regenerating people, culture and possibility.
